Micaela Sands, LMSW (she/her)

Therapist | Strengths-Based & Integrative | Psychedelic & Spiritual

Micaela believes deeply in the power of connection and the understanding that healing happens in relationship. Guided by the belief that we are all “walking each other home,” she approaches therapy with compassion, collaboration, and hope. She views life’s challenges as opportunities for growth and sees therapy as a supportive space where meaningful change can unfold.
As a Licensed Master Social Worker in Kansas, Micaela works with older adolescents, college-age individuals, adults, and new mothers navigating emotional distress, life transitions, and relational challenges. While her early clinical experience focused on children and families, her current work centers primarily on adolescents and adults. She brings a grounded, attentive presence that helps clients feel safe, understood, and supported.
Micaela uses a strengths-based and integrative approach, drawing from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), mindfulness, meditation principles, and grounding techniques. She also incorporates animal-assisted interventions and creative modalities when clinically appropriate. For clients who are open to it, Micaela can thoughtfully integrate spiritual support and offers psychedelic-informed care, supporting preparation, integration, and meaning-making around expanded states of consciousness within an ethical and trauma-informed framework. She also is honored to work with those who are going through chronic illness, hospice and grief work.
At the heart of Micaela’s work is a commitment to creating a safe, affirming space where each client’s story can be heard and respected. She collaborates closely with clients to develop individualized treatment plans that support their goals, foster resilience, and help them move toward a life that feels more aligned, grounded, and fulfilling.
