Genevieve Akins, LPC (she/her)

Therapist | Trauma-Informed | LGBTQIA+ & Neurodivergent-Affirming Care

Lawrence & Topeka, KS
Genevieve approaches therapy with the deep belief that access to mental health support is essential and that every person deserves care that honors their lived experience. Informed by her work with diverse populations and her own life experiences, she brings compassion, curiosity, and respect into the therapeutic space. Genevieve believes that clients are the experts of their own lives and strives to meet each person exactly where they are.
Her therapeutic approach is trauma-informed and integrative, drawing from person-centered, narrative, and solution-focused therapies. Genevieve offers a nonjudgmental, supportive environment where clients can explore their experiences, reflect on their stories, and move toward growth in ways that feel authentic and empowering. She values collaboration and supports clients in identifying paths forward that align with their values and goals.
Genevieve has a particular interest in working with LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent individuals and is committed to providing affirming, inclusive care. She also recognizes that mental health does not exist in a vacuum and welcomes conversations about the social, cultural, and systemic factors that shape clients’ experiences and well-being. With over five years of experience in a variety of mental health settings, she brings both skill and heart to her work and looks forward to supporting clients on their unique healing journeys.
